Join our team!

Less Annoying CRM is a tech start-up based in St. Louis. Our goal is to help small businesses succeed, and we're looking for great people to join us.
At Less Annoying CRM, we're not interested in being typical. It's right there in the name -- we're passionate about improving on the status quo. We like to start with a good idea and refine it by thinking critically about every aspect of that idea. That goes for our product (Less Annoying CRM), our company culture, and even our hiring process. We want intelligent, curious, and gregarious people who share that perspective.

We have a foot planted firmly in two opposite worlds: We're self-funded, which means we're practical, stable, and deliberate. But we're also a tech startup, which means we're flexible, fun, and agile. We're looking for people who take responsibility seriously, who understand our mission and culture, and who can enjoy life while keeping pace in a fast-paced work environment.

Our St. Louis roots go deep. Our co-founders grew up in University City, our office is located downtown, and we are eager to be a part of the entrepreneurial renaissance that is underway here in the Lou.

Sounding good? Read on.

This is Maggie

(CRM Coach)

On the job, Maggie helps our users get up and running with the product and answers any and all questions they have as they continue to use the CRM. Outside of Less Annoying, she stays pretty busy, whether it’s biking, doing yoga, or working on productions with the theater company she runs here in town. Check out what she has to say about her experience with LACRM!

This is Kelly

(Software Engineer)

Kelly’s work days are spent working on the CRM itself: improving the software and building new tools that will continually make our product better for our users. When she’s off the clock, you can find her longboarding around STL, hitting up all of the city’s pop-ups, markets, and fairs, and struggling up the rock climbing wall at the gym. She first joined as a coding fellow but has been full-time since 2018!

Here are a few of the reasons you might love working with us:

Work remotely

We have an office that we hope you’ll love to work in. But sometimes you just want to work from home, or even work while traveling. We give all full-timers the flexibility to spend some time working away from the office if they want.

No dress code

Stuffy isn't our style. We'd prefer if you don't show up in your skivvies, but otherwise you can dress however you'd like.

Generous vacation policy

All employees (including interns) get plenty of time off. Between vacation and holidays, it comes out to a day off for every two weeks you work.

We're family. Literally.

The co-founders are brothers and their mom is a professional food blogger. That means we all get amazing home-cooked lunches from time to time. How many companies can say that?

Our customers love us!

It can be really demoralizing to work at a company that isn't providing real value to its customers. We don't have that problem. Read these testimonials to see what we mean.

Competitive salary

This isn't one of those startups where we expect you to live off Ramen Noodles. We'll start you off with a competitive salary, and we have generous raises guaranteed each year.

Be a part of the team

We're a small business which means you'll be working closely with each and every one of us. You'll be an important part of our team from day one.

Tons of responsibility

We don't like managing people, which is why we hire people who don't need to be managed. You'll have the freedom and autonomy to ensure your own success.

You're a good fit if...

You're comfortable communicating

You need to be a strong speaker and writer. Whether you're dealing with a customer or commenting your code, your ability to clearly articulate your thoughts is essential.

You are self-motivated

We won't micromanage you, because that's annoying for everyone involved. But it will become obvious quickly if you're taking that luxury for granted. If you need someone prodding you to be productive, this isn't the environment for you.

You're tech-savvy & tech-passionate

This is a tech startup, so you'll obviously need to be web-savvy and computer-literate. Our customers think of us as their technical experts, and we need to live up to that reputation.

You are energetic and fun

Tyler loves snowboarding and Jack in the Box. Michael loves wheat beers and lives and dies with the Cardinals. Mitch acts and does improv comedy in his free time. We love our work, but we believe in having fun while doing it, and in being well-rounded individuals.

You like Imo's Pizza

There are two kinds of people in the world: people who love Imo's Pizza, and people who haven't yet fallen in love with Imo's Pizza. If you're in the latter group, don't worry, we'll work on it.

You're not a good fit if...

You're all about the corporate ladder

We hate bureaucracy. We don't plan on ever having a bunch of different levels of management. If you enjoy doing quality, meaningful work, you'll fit in. If you can only feel successful by being promoted above other people, this is not the place for you.

You're dishonest or untrustworthy

You’ve probably been lied to by companies before. It is depressingly common these days. That sucks, and we never, ever do that to our users. You will never be pressured to misrepresent or obfuscate the truth in order to secure a customer. We won't tolerate anyone who compromises our company's integrity.

You're overly formal

We want you to behave like a human, not a corporate drone. If you believe that wearing a suit makes you a professional or you've ever used the phrase, "We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused" then you probably wouldn't be a good fit here.

You're looking for a sexy startup gig

If you've seen The Social Network one too many times and that's the type of place you want to work, then you should look elsewhere. Yes, we're a startup, but we're also practical. You're not going to become an overnight billionaire, and we don't haze the interns. We're going to make sure that you have a great work environment and rewarding projects to work on, but this is still a job, not a frat house.

What positions are available?

Software Engineer Intern

All available openings for this position are filled. If you'd like us to consider you for positions that open up in the future, feel free to reach out at!

Full-time during the summer (about three months)
St. Louis, MO

This is a unique opportunity to get the true startup experience! Our software engineering team is still small (just six people) and you'll have an opportunity to work on technical challenges that touch every aspect of the business. Because we're still so small you'll be working directly with the co-founders and you'll be involved in important design and business discussions that you just won't get at larger companies.

We make web-based software, so most of your time will be spent with web technologies. This is a full stack position, so you'll be expected to work on everything from the back end (PHP, MySQL, building out our API, etc.) to the front end (HTML, CSS, Javascript, React, etc.). It's fine if you aren't familiar with those languages yet, we'll help you learn!

During the internship we'll start you off with some smaller projects to get your feet wet, and then work up to a larger project that will be the main focus of your internship. The exact project will depend on your skills and interests, but we'll be sure to find something that you really want to work on.

Full-time (40 hours per week)
St. Louis, MO
$54,000 (with guaranteed $10,000 raises each of your first seven years)

As a CRM Coach, your main responsibility will be to help our customers get up and running with our product. The team is still small, and you’ll be an integral part of the business. Our customers are small businesses in all different industries, and because every business is different, many of them will need your help understanding just how our software can fit into their organization. Your role will consist of answering questions via email and phone, as well as offering detailed phone consultations for new customers. (Don’t worry, we’ll provide all of the necessary training to familiarize you with our product!).

But there will also be the opportunity to branch out! From marketing to design to sales to blogging, you'll have time to pursue new skills and broaden yourself professionally. Your primary task will be working with our users and answering their questions, but if you want to branch out, we will make sure you have time to do so. You'll never need to feel like you're stuck in a rut!

You'll need to be an excellent writer and confident on the phone. This job is ideal for people who like helping other people solve real problems.

Full-time during the summer (about three months)

As an intern, you'll have the same responsibilities as a full-time CRM Coach (see the description above).

We know that internships can be boring and useless, and we have no interest in wasting your time or our money. We'll be giving you real responsibility, and we're open to accommodating the kind of work you're interested in doing. Your primary task will be answering questions via email and phone, but if you want to branch out, we will make sure you have time to do so.

This is an opportunity for us to evaluate you, and for you to evaluate us. If things go well, this internship can lead to a full-time role down the line!

Dependent on experience level

We're looking for a software engineer based in St. Louis, MO. This is a full-stack position, but it's fine if you tend to be more focused on front-end or back-end (we need both).

Our tech stack is React/TypeScript on the front-end and PHP/MySQL on the back-end. It's ok if you aren't experienced with those specific technologies yet.

In terms of seniority, we're open to all levels so long as you have at least some professional web development experience. We're hoping to find someone who's interested in working here long-term, so we're happy to provide training, mentorship, and growth opportunities if you're still early in your career.

If you have any questions for us before applying, feel free to send us an email.
