Meet Less Annoying's 2 New Faces: Ther and Elle!

Updated on:

Earlier this summer, you met our summer interns and coding fellows, but Less Annoying also grew by two full-timers recently: Ther, a DevOps Engineer, and Elle, a CRM Coach. Both play essential roles in making sure the CRM is the best it can be for you, so take a minute to get to know them:

Meet Ther:

Ther’s career didn’t begin in DevOps; in fact, she started off in the social work sector. Having left social work to teach herself computer programming, she embarked on a new chapter in tech. With the help of LaunchCode, a nonprofit in St. Louis that links nontraditional computer science learners with local tech companies, Ther joined our team.

Hometown: Right here in Saint Louis!

Hobbies and interests: Reading, biking around STL parks, cooking, playing video games & board games, going to open houses for places I will never buy (and some I eventually might). I am also a teaching assistant with LaunchCode because I love making code more accessible for everyone.

Favorite food: Mac and cheese -- or probably just cheese, honestly.

Aspiration: I have been out of the country 3 times, but I have never been to Hawai’i. My current goal is to travel there this year. I know how to scuba dive, but I have never gone diving in the ocean. Just a lot of little lakes in the landlocked midwest.

Weird fact: I absolutely love spiders.

Ther on the job:

Ther has been working with us for a few months now (we’re a little late on her intro post -- sorry, Ther!). As a DevOps engineer, she’s been hard at work on the back end of the CRM: all of the code and structure you don’t see that makes the software easy to navigate and use.

What’s your favorite thing about working at LACRM?
The communal feel here is palpable. This is a group of caring individuals who genuinely want to improve the experience of the people they serve as well as the people who work here. It is a unique experience to work for a company that is full of compassionate people who continuously strive to better themselves and the company.

What are you most looking forward to?
As a DevOps Engineer, I feel like I have complete permission to do something I’ve previously had to rein in: endlessly researching and exploring and experimenting until I understand a concept or device to its fullest. This position is a perfect intersection of service to the company and customers: the things I design and work with will not only make my coworkers’ jobs easier, but they will ultimately make our product better for our users.

What project are you owning right now that you’re really proud of?
My current project is my most ambitious since I began. Our developers each have a personal testing environment that mimics our website so that they can try out new code before sending it to the actual website. Currently, their test environment differs from our main site in some key ways that can sometimes make testing inaccurate. I’m going to completely redesign the test environment so it’s a better match, which will help site improvements happen faster and more smoothly.

Meet Elle:

Most of Elle’s career has been in the writing and communications world: copywriting, book editing, and grant writing, to name a few endeavors. But with a background in tech and the desire to help others solve problems, she’s glad to have joined us as a CRM Coach.

Hometown: St. Louis, MO

Hobbies and interests: Cooking, baking, reading, dancing poorly with vigor. I also volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Tenth Life Cat Rescue.

Favorite food: Sourdough bread, either dipped in olive oil or topped with vegan butter.

Aspiration: I’ve just begun aerial arts classes -- hoping that in a year I will be doing some wild moves up in the air!

Weird fact: I can pogo-stick with no hands. I’m learning the glockenspiel. I’ve never eaten a hot dog. I introduced my mom to her husband by selling Girl Scout cookies. There’s more, but I won’t keep you any longer.

Elle on the job:

Elle started with LACRM just over a month ago. If you’ve filled out a contact form or called in recently, there's a chance you've talked with her!

What’s your favorite thing about working at LACRM?
So far, I love working on a team comprised entirely of creative thinkers. I’m also enjoying working for a company with a solid philosophy on truly serving the people who use the product and taking care of its team.

What are you most looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to getting more involved with the company. At just one month in, I’m still doing a lot of training, and I’m excited to play a part in more strategic thinking about the company and its growth as I become more familiar with how everything works.

Every CRM Coach has a special project they work on outside of their day-to-day role in support. What will you be working on?
Right now, I’m dabbling, but as I grow more used to the product and company, I’m hoping to help with training and development!
