4 reasons to get a live demo before settling on a CRM

CRM demos help you choose the best CRM for your company’s needs and ensure that you get the most out of it.

Choosing a CRM for your company is a big and tough decision to make. There are many CRMs out there, and it’s difficult to know exactly which one will best fit your company’s needs. Perhaps you need a CRM that has a lot of complex features, or you could opt for a much simpler CRM with a few, basic features. While some CRM services provide a free trial for you to explore their product, it still takes time and energy to get to truly know the CRM well. Even then, there are still a lot of features and tips that you could be missing.

This is where the CRM demo comes in.

A CRM demo is a 30-minute to 1-hour walkthrough of the CRM with a CRM expert via phone call and screensharing. A lot of CRM companies offer a free live demo of their CRM with an expert on their support team, so it’s easy to shoot them an email and request a demo.

Why should you get a CRM demo?

1. You get direct answers to your questions.

Because you’ll be directly talking to a CRM expert during your demo, you can ask questions and get answers on the spot (instead of having to wait around for email responses). This allows you to ask specific questions tailored to your company’s needs. A good question to ask during a CRM demo is how to customize your CRM’s features so they match your sales workflow. For example, a common feature that helps with customization is being able to rename your custom fields to match your company’s lingo.

2. You avoid mistakes before they happen.

One of the most helpful tips that we give to new users during demos is to avoid creating too many custom fields so contacts’ profiles don’t get too messy and unorganized. Tips such as these are common advice in CRM demos. It is easier to get tips through a live CRM demo than it is to watch a tutorial video because the CRM expert can provide a thorough explanation that is tailored to you.

3. You get immediate feedback to your current CRM setup.

If you have already chosen a CRM or are testing out a free trial, you might have explored the CRM and added a few contacts. However, the CRM could provide even more value than what you're currently getting out of it. For example, one important piece of feedback that a lot of our users get is misusing pipelines (the feature that tracks your sales workflow) as groups. This is often tricky for users because not everyone needs to use pipelines, but they don’t always recognize this until they speak with a CRM expert in a live demo.

4. You establish a connection with a CRM expert, who is always just a phone call or email away when you need something.

The best part of getting a CRM demo is that by the end of your 45-minute phone call, you’ll have made a connection at the CRM company who knows exactly what you and your company need. This makes asking questions so much easier because your CRM rep will already be up-to-date with you. Another thing to keep in mind is that your CRM rep’s answers to your questions will be a lot more detailed and helpful than if they had occurred over email alone.
