Spring Cleaning tips for your CRM

Give your CRM a spring cleaning!
Updated on:

Now that spring is in full bloom, it’s a great time to open the windows, let in some fresh air, and clean up your home. Cleaning up your CRM might not come with the same flowers and sunshine, but it does make running your business a whole lot easier. Here are a few ways to give your CRM a refresh this spring.

  1. Merge duplicate contacts: If you haven’t already, check out the merge duplicates page in the CRM to clean them up in bulk. Duplicates create problems over time because client information can end up split across two records instead of one. Learn how to merge in bulk here!
  2. Update or delete old contacts: Follow these directions to filter your list for contacts you haven’t touched in the past 12 months. Then decide what to do with each one: try a fresh follow-up, delete them from the CRM, or add them to a group called “Archive.”
  3. Delete or reschedule old tasks: Go through your task report and bulk delete or reschedule the overdue ones that have been hanging around. Learn how here!
  4. Review your custom fields: Are you still using all the custom fields you created? You can filter your records by any custom field to see how often it’s actually being filled in. If a field has been sitting empty for a while, it might be time to either delete it or find a way to work it into your data entry workflow. Learn how to filter by empty fields here!
  5. Check your pipeline statuses: Are your pipeline stages still accurate? Maybe your workflow has changed recently, or you find yourself skipping the same step every time. Either way, now’s a great time to update them. Learn how here.
  6. Audit your groups: Are all your group labels still relevant? A group called “2023 leads” probably isn’t pulling its weight anymore. Take a pass through your groups and delete the ones cluttering up your CRM. 1. Check out your full group list here.
