You can now use the Tab key to access badges like the pipeline badge as shown above

A special thank you to Maxwell Ivey Jr from The Accessibility Advantage for working on this project with us.

Last year at Less Annoying CRM, our developers started a new tradition that we are calling “Accessibility Week.”

Accessible software means making it work for everyone—people who use screen readers, people who can’t use a mouse and rely on a keyboard, people with visual impairments, and more.

In the past, accessibility was a priority for Less Annoying CRM, but it was something just a couple developers worked on sporadically throughout the year. Now, we have a week every January where every developer devotes their time to projects that make the app more accessible. In addition, this week helped our developers build the habit of prioritizing accessibility when they work on new features for the CRM.

While many additional accessibility changes were made behind the scenes, you can check out the two biggest changes here:

  • Many screen reader users rely on the Tab key. In addition, many people rely on keyboards instead of a mouse for mobility reasons. The developers have now made every “badge” in the CRM keyboard accessible. You can check it out on your keyboard if you Tab through group labels and pipeline items.
  • Search fields in the CRM are now more keyboard accessible. In the past, if someone with a screen reader was trying to navigate the search field, they could get stuck because Tab would work like “Enter” instead of the typical Tab behavior of taking you to the next field on the screen. Now, if you press Tab in a search field, it will behave as expected and take you to the next selectable element on the screen.

These are just two changes, but the developers worked on many smaller projects to make the CRM more accessible as well. Other smaller projects included improving the contrast for starred contacts and making editing various settings in the CRM easier with a screen reader.

While Accessibility Week is over for 2026, our developers will bring this mindset to their work for the rest of the year and beyond. Thank you to all the users who have shared feedback with us about ways we can make the app more accessible over the years. If you notice an aspect of the CRM that we could make more accessible, please reach out—we’re always looking to improve.
