As a CRM coach, I know very few things cause more stress to customers than accidentally merging two contacts that shouldn't have been merged. Maybe you meant to click a different record, or you merged too quickly before double-checking. Either way, it's the kind of mistake that used to mean contacting us to sort things out.
We've now made it possible for you to fix it yourself. A new Undo Merge button appears in the history of a contact record after a merge. Press it at any time and the two original records will be restored exactly as they were.
How it works:
- Merge two contacts as you normally would
- If you realize the merge was a mistake, find the Undo Merge button in the record's history
- Press it — the two original records are restored, and you'll now have three records total: the two originals plus the merged one
- Simply delete the merged record, and you're back to where you started
Beyond fixing mistakes, the history also gives you a clear paper trail. If you ever open a record and wonder why it looks the way it does, any merges that have taken place will be visible there — so you can always piece together what happened and when.
No need to contact us, and no data lost. Going forward, feel free to merge with a little more confidence — you always have a safety net. And as always, if you ever need help, reach out to us here.
