Make notes now and edit later

Taking notes on the go and how to review them later

When you’re on the go, it can be tempting to save data entry for when you have more time. Instead of leaving a note at the end of the day when you’ve forgotten parts of your meeting or call, enter a note into your CRM immediately and edit the note later. This will not only make sure that you always enter notes when conversations are fresh in your mind, but that you’ll review your comments and thoughts at the end of the day.

Enter the note

On your computer

Making a lot of calls from your desk and don’t have time to type up full notes? Go to the contact’s record in your CRM; if you received an email reminder for the call or meeting, click on the contact’s name there. You can type your note under the Activity Feed. Make sure to hit “Save” when you’re done!

Leave the key information you gleaned from the call, including any dates, numbers, or changes you might forget later.

On your phone

Running around all day and don’t have time to sit in front of your computer to leave a note in your CRM? Go to the contact’s record via the CRM’s mobile site. You can type your note or dictate what you want to say using your device’s dictation feature. Make sure to hit “Save” when you’re done!

Edit the note

When you have more time, open up your Activity Report. Filter by activity type and select “Notes,” and filter by user and select “Only my activity.” Click here to pull this report on your own CRM.

You can also adjust the date range so that you only see notes from today.

At the top of the report, you’ll see all of your most recent notes. Hover over the note and click on “Edit this note” in the lower left hand corner. Clean up your note by fixing typos and completing thoughts. Be sure to hit “Save changes” to make sure your updates are preserved.

Now that you have time, add back in context or details you skimmed over in your first draft.

Be sure to click on each contact’s name as well so that you can check their profile and make sure you scheduled any necessary follow up tasks, added any events, or updated any contact information according to your notes.
