We’ve got a new integration to share: Cardin, a Gmail Add-On that lets you access pieces of the CRM right from your Gmail inbox. Cardin allows you to pull up contacts’ information from your CRM, add new contact entries, and scan pipelines. Having that information right at your fingertips and being able to add new data without leaving your inbox makes for a hike in efficiency, helping you get the most out of your CRM.
If that’s sounding good, here’s how it works:
The first thing you’ll want to do is install Cardin on your Gmail account. When you’re in Gmail, you can click the “+” icon on the right, search “Cardin for Gmail,” and click the Install button -- Gmail will walk you through the quick installation from here. This is where you'll see Cardin in your Gmail once you've installed it:
Next, click the Cardin icon -- you’ll see a welcome screen with the option to “Add a new Connector.” Select Less Annoying CRM from their list. You can choose between two different actions: pipeline reporting and searching contacts (note: you can switch between these two functions at any time). We’ll explain the difference between these two options below, so don’t worry about this for now!
Now, you want to bring your LACRM API information over. If you’re not sure what that is, that’s OK! What you need to know is that it’s a token of characters that allow external apps (like Cardin) talk with your CRM.
Note: Giving an external app your API token is granting programmatic access to your CRM account, so you should only do this with programs that you trust.
To access and use your API token, visit the API page in your CRM’s settings and click “Generate a new API Token,” then copy and paste that information into Cardin.
If you want to look at pipelines in Cardin, you’ll also need to grab the Pipeline ID from at least one of your pipelines in your CRM.
Here’s what your setup screen will look like in Cardin:
Be sure to hit the Update button when you're finished! From there, the two will be connected.
When you have an email open in front of you, click the Cardin icon, then select Less Annoying CRM. Cardin will do its thing and scan your CRM to pull up the sender’s contact info from Less Annoying, or it will tell you the contact isn’t in your CRM and prompt you to add them.
The add-on will show you all of a contact’s fundamentals: their website, phone numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, birthday, custom fields you’ve created in the CRM, and any background information you’ve stored for them. It’s immediate access to the core details you might need when writing back to this person without you having to switch back and forth between two systems -- a big efficiency-booster when you’re swamped with emails and don’t have the time to think through every detail. (Note that Cardin only shows contact information, however; for notes, tasks, or events related to a contact, you still have to navigate to the CRM.)
You can also update the contact’s information right in Cardin: Just click what you’d like to edit, enter the contact’s new information, and click “Update.”
And if you don’t already have the sender in your CRM, just click on “Add a contact.”
The process should be simple -- the only aspect that might not be intuitive is that you need to grab the User ID (you can find this back on your API Settings page) for whomever you’d like to assign the contact to.
Click the Cardin icon when you’re looking at an email and select Less Annoying CRM. You’ll see an overview of the contacts and companies in your pipeline: their name, status in the pipeline, contact details, and background information.
This is a fast, convenient way to keep a pulse on your pipeline at a glance -- you won’t get as much detail as you would from looking at your pipeline reports in the CRM, naturally, but when you’re knee-deep in your inbox and need a quick reminder of all the prospects you need to send follow-ups to, Cardin will definitely come in handy.
Note: If you want to switch between contact searching and pipeline reporting, you can do this in Cardin’s settings at any time. Click three-dot menu icon, then go to Settings, then to Less Annoying CRM. Choose the feature you want to work with, and hit Update at the bottom.
Sometimes it really is a pain to click back and forth between different systems: The few seconds spent navigating will add up eventually, and it’s easy to lose track of what you were doing. We know Cardin’s quick and easy access to a contact’s profile or a pipeline overview will save you time, keep you focused, and simply let you get more done in a day. And we hope you think so, too!
