Analytics reviews - Clicky, Chartbeat, and Google

Posted by Tyler King on May 27th, 2010
A while back we reviewed three different web analytics tools, and I want to summarize our findings so far. If you're not sure what we mean by "analytics", you should read our post explaining how to use analytics software to track your website activity.

Note: We're always happy to review other options, so feel free to leave a comment if you're curious about a product we haven't reviewed yet.

Here's a summary of the individual reviews so far:

Google Analytics Review
We gave Google Analytics high marks for the price (free) and power, but they seem to ignore some features that are very important to small businesses such as real-time information.

Clicky Review
Clicky got our first A+ rating. It's a great blend between the real-time information and high-level reporting.

Chartbeat
Chartbeat is kind of cool, but it's just not very useful. Clicky seriously does everything Chartbeat does, but better and for less money.

But wait...
No one ever said that you have to use only one analytics tool. My recommendation is that you set up tracking with both Google Analytics and Clicky. Clicky will end up being your go-to source for daily website monitoring, but you still have the option of turning to Google if you ever need to take advantage of the more complicated features.
